Thrifty and festive December arrives with its chill and promises of sleet yet it’s a month filled with warmth blazing fires and Christmas delights. Seek out ivy, ceder, skimmia and any evergreen you can find, look out for decorative flourishes like pinecones, berries and dried seedheads to add that extra touch of magic.

Crafting a wreath

To craft a beautiful wreath, start with a round wire frame, fluff up some moss and cover the base, wrap string around it to secure layer on various foliage add dried flowers, berries, hips and pinecones and be creative with seed heads of teasels, poppies and pampas grasses until the wreath is full. Explore interesting colours, textures and leaf shapes. Rustic elegance creates a rustic branch frame using twigs from trees like hazel and birch which you can spray with silver or gold paint.
